Advance Challenge #4
Using World Book Discover special features under Reference Tools helps pull the students research together. The students personal research is available with just a click, including the dictionary, atlas and citation builder. Very easy to use.
Advanced Challenge #3
Advanced Challenge
3. Using the E-Book Center in World Book Advanced I looked up Andersen's Fairy Tales. There were special tools available such as being able to read selected sections, access text to speech, and I love that students are able to save articles to their personal research so that it is readily available all in one spot. There is alot of related info listed so students can choose which directions to take their research. Such as a bio of the author, other works by the same author or lists of other literature of the same type.

1. Using World Book Kids; In "World of Animal" I was able to compare two land mammals. This would be helpful to students researching why certain animals are better suited to different areas and climates.
However, I was unable to find how to compare Places. Maybe you can give me a tip as to where to do this .
The "Games and activitie" section really had a lot to offer to students who learn in different ways. I can see how these would help keep a student interested in an assigned topic.
2. Using World Book Student I started by checking out "Biography". I was able to search for authors that were American and from the 1900's. This could definitely be used by the English teachers. I just had to also look at the "Behind the Headlines". An encyclopedia that offers current events...very cool. I really liked "The weekly current events game". This isn't your grandmas encyclopedia!

Job searching and resume writing
The course I chose to look at was under Career Course; Succeeding on the Job. It had many down to earth tips and suggestions. Mostly common sense ideas, but all in one organized place. The course outline in the lefthand column allowed me to skip past some of the sections, and to quickly find the ones that I wanted to look at. I chose the e-book for the Postal worker exam. It is a complete book of 194 pages of information and exams, at my fingertips!
Lesson 2-Learning Express Library
I took a reading comprehension test. I only answered a few questions before stopping for my score. I really liked how in the scoring page it told me not only why I got an answer correct but why it was the best answer among all other choices. The explanation helped verify any concerns I may have had in my answer choice. This site would be very helpful to many people and very easy to navigate.

lesson 1C-Worldbook Foreign Language Edition
In the world Book Foriegn Language edition I listened to an article using the read aloud feature. The voice was a little robot-y but I was able to follow the highlighted words. I think this feature could help spanish students needing help with pronunciation.
I looked at the visual dictionary in both the Spanish and French editions. It took a few minutes to think of a word in both languages, but I tried pommes in french and sombrero in spanish. I was able to read the definition in the language chosen and when I highlighted a section it also showed up in english. This would be helpful to students as they are learning the language. It would help them with their comprehensive skills, by seeing the words being used in sentences.
